New Technology Update : A Malicious WhatsApp Video Feature Invite Is Spreading Across The Messaging App

WhatsApp recently announced the launch of its video calling feature which has started to roll out for Android, iOS and Windows Phone users. While a number of messaging apps offer this feature, WhatsApp has been a little late, it does however have the biggest user base across the globe.

While the news is welcoming, many users are receiving as well as sharing an unverified link on WhatsApp which is said to be an invite to activate the video calling feature. An invite system was introduced last year on Whatsapp when the voice calling feature was rolled out. It seems that certain scammers are trying to take advantage of this as they have spread a similar looking fake link for the new video calling feature.

WhatsApp has not officially released any links this time to enable any feature, so in case you get any such links, do not visit any of the links. Visiting these links could be harmful and could expose your personal data.

According to a report, the link takes you to what seems to look like an authentic page where it asks you to send the malicious link to other people on your list. It also mentions the existence of group WhatsApp video calling, a feature that is still not officially available on the platform.

If you do happen to get an invite to activate the video calling feature on WhatsApp, do ignore it. To get the feature you just need to update the app to the latest version. In case you don’t see an update, wait for a couple of days as it is rolling out in phases.

News Google Tech Update : Google Launches Allo In The Play Store; Here Is How To Get Started

Google has finally launched the much anticipated messaging app by the company, Google Allo. It was previously reported that that messaging app would launch today. Allo is the part of communication platform made in conjunction with Google Duo. Duo was released some time back by the company, and it focused on video whereas Google Allo is focused on text communication along with sending media such as photos, audio messages, stickers and locations.
Google Allo main screen

You can start using Allo by going to Google Play Store and installing it on your Android device. The interface is pretty bare bones but quite functional for a messaging app. When you launch the app for the first time, the app asks you to verify your mobile number similar to how things work on Google Duo. The SMS verification servers seem to be in place for Allo verification. After the verification, the app asks you to set a profile picture and name.
Google Assistant

The app interface is reminiscent to how Google Hangout looks like (but without all the features in Hangouts). Nothing has changed since the leaked screenshots for Google Allo in alpha stage. On launching, you get the first (and only) surprise that Google Allo holds, that is “Google Assistant”, the bot by Google while will replace Google Now in the upcoming update, Android Nougat 7.1. It is a vital part of the experience provided by Google Assistant and a step away from how popular messaging apps work. Google Assistant is what Cortana from Microsoft and Siri from Apple are, but inside a chat window currently. The bot is labelled as ‘Preview Edition’ but in the limited tests that we ran, Assistant left us impressed coming from Google Now as the previous native offering in Android.
Sticker Store, Template replies

While diving into the chat experience, Allo does the basics of sending text, photos shot from the front or back camera, pictures from gallery, stickers and location. You can send 20 photos at a time in Allo from the ten photos limited on WhatsApp. Another small change is that in the notifications area, the app shows smart response as a quick reply to contacts who message you. Machine learning is working full time to suggest bubble shape cards in the chat as appropriate message responses to the conversations. Finally, you can search inside your conversations, as against the searchless realm that Google Hangouts are.
 Incognito Chats

There is nothing new when you dive in the Profile section or the General settings menu, and there are just small things like controlling the notifications, sounds, vibration and to download the media when you receive it. There is no status updates or message that you can set for people in your contact list to read.

Google Allo turns into Snapchat

The reason we mentioned that the chatting experience is different from how it is in the conventional messaging is apps is that you can summon Google Assistant in your private conversations to ask questions, play games or device on dinner options or the movie options. This brings a whole different side to the concept of user privacy and the only remedy seen is the use of incognito chat with other users.
Group conversations

Incognito mode features auto-destruct messages just like Snapchat which expire after a fixed amount of time depending on the settings. Infact, you can turn Google Allo into an almost functioning Snapchat clone except Stories or ability to check who saw your stories.
The summon behaviour is consistent across individual as well as group chats where you can call in Google Assistant to ask questions and suggestions on places nearby. However, you can’t tag Google Assistant in incognito chats. Apart from this nothing much stands out in the latest messaging app by Google, Google Allo.

News Interesting Fact About Smartphones : Your Smartphone Can Tell If You’re Depressed

Health related apps have been on the rise in recent years as an increasing number of smartphone users are concerned with what they put in their bodies and what’s going on with their health. But most of them have been aimed at counting calories, counting drinks, keeping track of blood pressure, and none of them have targeted mental health. Until now.

Researchers at the Northwestern University have developed a smartphone app that can say whether or not an individual is depressed based on the amount of time that they spend using their phone as well by looking at GPS data in order to asses how many places the individual visits on a daily basis.
David Mohr, senior author and director for the Behavioral Intervention Technologies department of the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, and his colleagues examined 18 subjects for this study. He included both men and women, with the ranging from 19 to 58.

The research team installed an app on the smartphones of participants and used it to track them over the course of two (2) weeks. However, before the app started collecting information, the subjects had to answer standard questionnaire that are used by professionals to measure depression.

The results revealed that the more time a subject spent using their phone, the bigger their change of being diagnosed with depression was. Depressed subjects spent somewhere around 68 minutes using their device each day, while healthy subjects spent somewhere around 17 minutes using their device each day.

On top of this, users with GPS data that showed they spent most of the time at home also had a good chance of being diagnosed with depression. Another finding was that subjects who changed their schedule from day to day (for instance heading towards the office at a different time each day) were also likely battling depression.

Mohr gave a statement saying that the results make sense from a clinical point of view. When people are depressed they don’t feel like engaging in social activities and that usually withdraw from others.

One explanation is that these people don’t use their phones to communicate, but rather to play on apps in an attempt to distract themselves from their emotional pain.

The authors admitted that further research is needed as the sample of subjects was a very small one.

News Handset Security Update : My Xperia Theft Protection Bricking Phones With Unlocked Bootloaders

Sony's My Xperia Theft Protection (MXTP) feature, which is present in recently launched handsets such as Sony Xperia Z3+, Xperia C4, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia M4 Aqua, is bricking bootloader-unlocked smartphones as per user reports.

For those unaware, the MXTP security feature, when enabled, prevents a user from wiping the stolen Xperia device and installing a custom ROM without access to the owner's Google sign-in details. The main work done by MXTP here is to prevent the bootloader on the device from unlocking.
However, according to some Xperia users (via Xperia Blog), enabling the MXTP on the device that already has an unlocked bootloader, leads to the bricking of the smartphone. This is said to happen due to MXTP's efforts to prevent the bootloader-unlocking on an Xperia handset that already has an unlocked bootloader.

Sony is aware of the issue and instead of a solution, has recently changed some wording on its Unlocked Bootloader website under the 'Risks' section. The firm says that, "After unlocking your device, you should not enable My Xperia (found in the settings menu under security on some devices running Android 5.0) as this might cause the device to malfunction." The site adds, "In addition, if you have enabled My Xperia, this function must be turned off before you can unlock your device."

Notably, Sony for now does not allow consumers to unlock the bootloader on new devices including Sony Xperia Z3+, Xperia C4, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia M4 Aqua. The delay is said to be the same MXTP issue, which the firm might be working on behind-the-scenes. For now, there are no custom ROMs available for the devices.

Update Mobile Security : Sammy Shoots Out Updates To Plug Mobile Keyboard Snooping Bug

Samsung has promised to deploy updates to resolve a serious mobile keyboard snooping bug, with security policy fixes expected in the coming days, the company said on Thursday – while simultaneously downplaying the issue.

As previously reported, researchers at security firm NowSecure warned that a problem involving the keyboard pre-installed with Samsung devices created a spying risk.
The risk arises from a design decision which meant updates were made over an unsecured, unencrypted HTTP connection, rather than HTTPS.

Worse yet, the update process has system-level access and the authenticity of updates isn’t checked, creating a mechanism for skilled hackers to push malware.

More than 600 million Samsung mobile devices – including the recently released Galaxy S6 – are potentially vulnerable to a greater or lesser extent.

“The Swift keyboard comes pre-installed on Samsung devices and cannot be disabled or uninstalled. Even when it is not used as the default keyboard, it can still be exploited,” an advisory by NowSecure explained.

“This can be exploited in a manner that requires no user interaction — a user does not have to explicitly choose to download a language pack update to be exploited," it added.

Remote code execution creates an open goal for attackers to snoop on Samsung devices, as third-party security experts have been quick to point out.

Paul Ducklin, a senior security advisor at Sophos, has a decent run-down of the issue here.

Sammy admitted there was a problem, while arguing that various factors make an attack difficult to pull off in practice. It said it was unaware of any exploitation, which – in any case – is guarded against by its KNOX security architecture on the latest model.

Nonetheless, the Korean consumer electronics giant will release an update, as a blog post explained.

This vulnerability, as noted by the researchers, requires a very specific set of conditions for a hacker to be able to exploit a device this way.

This includes the user and the hacker physically being on the same unprotected network while downloading a language update. Also, on a KNOX-protected device there are additional capabilities in place such as real-time kernel protection to prevent a malicious attack from being effective.

So, the likelihood of making a successful attack, exploiting this vuln is low.

There have been no reported customer cases of Galaxy devices being compromised through these keyboard updates. But as the reports indicated, the risk does exist and Samsung will roll out a security policy update in the coming days.

The issue involves Samsung's version of the app, a rebadged version of the popular SwiftKey keyboard for Android.

Downloads of SwiftKey Keyboard from Google Play or the Apple App Store are not affected by this issue, as developer SwiftKey emphasised. ®

News Social Networking Update : WhatsApp Receives Neat-And-Clean Material Design Makeover For All Android Users

Popular messaging service WhatsApp has received a major update in design and now sports a complete Material Design user interface, as it moves ahead in par with Google’s latest guidelines. The new update (build version 2.12.84) is now available to all on Google Play Store. Last month, WhatsApp had released build version 2.12.38 with Material Design for Android smartphones but at the time it was only available on the company’s website.

The new update only brings in several design changes to the user interface but no new additions in terms of functionality have been made.
Firstly, the revamped Material Design interface of WhatsApp brings in a lighter shade of green which you will spot at first sight. The top bar which includes Calls, Chats and Contacts tabs has been enlarged compared to the previous build. Icons have been reduced in size which gives it a clean and simple look.

When it comes to the Chat log, if you click on your friend’s profile picture, the image will enlarge and you will see quick options such as message, call and their detailed profile. Profile pictures now are in a circular frame unlike the previous squarish one. Your chat conversation will now appear as a speech bubble and the microphone feature gets a separate icon. Previously, when users pressed ‘enter’ to send their messages, they could accidentally click on the microphone option. With the new update, this wouldn’t be a problem any more.
The attachment icons are also more colourful and appear bigger and brighter. WhatsApp already has a huge palette of emoticons and no new additions have been made, but there have been a few design and colour tweaks. The background is now bright white, which makes the emojis stand out more prominently on the screen.

Given WhatsApp has rolled out the Voice Calling feature to all Android devices as well, this easy on the eye Material Design will only provide a further boost to its popularity.

New Smart Application Update :Microsoft’s Voice Assistant Cortana Coming To Android and iOS Devices Soon

Smartphone voice assistants can be described in plain simple words as ‘freaking cool’. They have come a long way and at present they can almost be seen as the baby versions of Tony Stark’s Jarvis. While Google Now is a great search and convenience tool, Microsoft’s Cortana and Apple’s Siri have anthropomorphic qualities that let them have human live conversations with the users. Microsoft has decided to take Cortana to a wider audience and will be bringing its voice assistant to iOS and Android devices.

Microsoft has said that it will be introducing Cortana on other operating systems as a standalone app. The company will also be integrating its artificial intelligence(AI) based technology called ‘Einstein’ with the voice assistant. With Einstein’s support, Cortana would be able to read and understand emails that will help it provide more convenient features to the users. It would let it offer suggestions to the user, even before they ask for it, something Google Now has been doing for a while.

Cortana is based on the artificially intelligent character of the same name from the famed video game, Halo. The personality of the voice assistant is also derived from the AI character from the game. Microsoft has been banking on Cortana’s ability to chit chat with the users. Cortana also offers usual voice assistant features like setting reminders and calendar, weather and traffic information, writing notes and messages.

Microsoft will also be bringing Cortana on Windows 10 operating system for desktops. It might actually beat Apple in this field as the Cupertino-based company didn’t bring Siri to the latest Yosemite operating system. Microsoft is contemplating the fall timeframe for the launch of the app. So if you liked Google Now but wanted a more human-like interaction, Microsoft’s Cortana is coming soon to give you company.

Speaking of voice assistants, remember that one time we got Siri to speak in Punjabi?

News WhatsApp Update : WhatsApp Voice Calling: Just A Call Needed To Activate

While several online reports have claimed that the voice calling feature on WhatsApp has arrived, there is no official announcement or confirmation from the company. Several blogs suggested that users need to download the latest version of Whatsapp or get version 2.11.528/531 to activate the feature. However, this may not work. Even newer versions like 2.11.561 is yet to get the feature. So, upgrading to the latest version will clearly not work.
Another round of online reports informed that users will only get the calling feature activated on their accounts if someone makes aWhatsApp call to them. Suggesting that an invitation is required.

For the record the latest version of WhatsApp (as of March 14) is 2.12.7. You can download it from the website and insatll the apk file. However, you will need someone (who already has the feature) to call you to activate it on your device.

So, if you haven’t received the calling feature even after updating to the latest version, it’s better to forget about it for the moment and wait for the official announcement. When WhatsApp announced its WhatsWeb, the feature was available across all versions. So, we can expect the same this time for voice calling.

Meanwhile, several malwares and fake WhatsApp calling apps have appeared to take advantage of curious users.

News Android App Update : Chrome 42 Beta Brings Push Notifications, ES6 Classes, And Add To Home Screen Promotion On Android

Gaming execs: Join 180 select leaders from King, Glu, Rovio, Unity, Facebook, and more to plan your path to global domination in 2015. GamesBeat Summit is invite-only -- apply here. Ticket prices increase on April 3rd!
A week after releasing the stable version of Chrome 41, Google announced Chrome 42 beta for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. While the release actually arrived on Monday, the company only offered details about the new features today, including push notifications, ES6 Classes, and Add to Home Screen promotion on Android.

Chrome is arguably more than a browser: With hundreds of millions of users, it’s a major platform that Web developers have to consider. In fact, with regular additions and changes, they have to keep up to ensure they are taking advantage of everything available.
First and foremost, Chrome 42 beta offers two new APIs that together allow sites to push native notifications to their users even after the given page is closed. While that may sound intrusive, Google says the user has to grant explicit permission for this to be possible.

Once that has happened, a developer can use the new Push API via Google Cloud Messaging to remotely wake up their service worker, which in turn can run JavaScript for a short period. In this release, Google requires showing a user-visible notification that includes a “Site Settings” button hwere users can easily disable notifications.

Next up, Google has added new JavaScript ES6 features. Most noteworthy are ES6 classes (strict mode is required), which solve help developers who have trouble adapting to JavaScript’s prototype-based inheritance. While many libraries have introduced their own patterns for emulating classes, this is the first attempt to provide a single, uniform, and standardized syntax to describe them.

While Chrome 32 introduced the ability for Android users to add home screen shortcuts to their favorite websites via a menu item, Chrome 42 beta takes the functionality a step further by offering a banner. Users who frequently visit a high-quality web app will asked if they want to add the site to their home screen in one tap:
If you’re a developer who wants to take advantage of this new feature, you have to meet the eligibility criteria (provide a Web App Manifest, serve all content using HTTPS, and at least partially work offline using a service worker), which will evolve over time based on feedback from users and developers. Google wants to ensure users have a good experience when launching sites from the Android home screen even when offline.

Other developer additions include:
  • DevTools now allows developers to visually edit cubic beziers directly from the styles pane, making it easier to understand and modify animations.
  • The Fetch API is now available in the window context, shared workers, and dedicated workers, providing a new promise-based standard for AJAX requests.
  • The startRendering method of an OfflineAudioContext instance now returns a promise that resolves when the audio has finished rendering, making it easier to design web apps that work with the Web Audio API.
  • AudioBufferSourceNode.buffer can no longer be set more than once, protecting developers from the lack of control over when the new source starts.
  • Chrome OS now supports screen.orientation and fires the DeviceOrientationEvent when the device’s orientation changes significantly, allowing orientation-aware websites to operate correctly on Chrome OS devices.
  • This release includes an updated and unprefixed implementation of Encrypted Media Extensions, which allows media sites to discover and interact with digital rights management systems.
  • A new content setting allows users to automatically pause non-primary plugin content to save power. Developers can turn it on to test how it interacts with their content.
Google releases new versions of Chrome every six weeks or so. We thus expect Chrome 42 stable, which also happens to be the the last version to support Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, to arrive at the end of April.

New Product Launched : Cube i6 Air 3G Tablet Includes Both Windows 8.1 And Android 4.4 For $230

While the market has been flooded with Android and Windows tablets of all descriptions in recent months, very few of these devices are equipped to run both operating systems together. Indeed, the demand for that capability is arguably pretty small, but there are some users out there who demand it.

A new tablet from one of China's most popular tablet brands, Cube, may be just what such buyers are looking for, offering a decent set of specs in a sleek and light package. Weighing 525g, and with a body that's just 8mm thick, the Cube i6 Air features a dedicated 'OS Switch' button, which allows the user to go from Windows to Android and back.
However, the two operating systems cannot run concurrently, so you'll have to reboot the device every time you make the switch.

That's a bit of a hassle, but one nice feature of the i6 Air is its 9.7-inch display, which has a 4:3 aspect ratio with QXGA (2048x1536px) resolution. Other key specs include:
  • Quad-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3735F processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 32GB storage (plus microSD support up to 32GB)
  • 5MP rear camera with auto-focus
  • 2MP front-facing camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • 8000mAh battery
Another very welcome feature is integrated 3G connectivity - quite an impressive addition to the spec list, given that many far more expensive tablets don't offer this support.
If all this sounds a bit too good to be true, we wouldn't blame you for thinking that it is. But the folks over at Liliputing had a chance to get their hands on the Cube Air i6 and take it for a spin, confirming that it is a real, working device (although for some reason, it only had a pre-release version of Windows 8.1 on the demo model they tried...).

It's available to buy now from Geekbuying.com, where it's currently on sale for just $232.99 - but that price will only be available for the next few days, after which it will head back up to its regular price of just under $356.

New Application Update : WhatsApp Nervous About Free Voice Calling Feature Launch In India

WhatsApp is testing its free voice calling feature through a small number of people in India, possibly having sped up this launch to meet Hike’s challenge. But there’s not much reason for the former to worry about seeing as its second largest user base resides on these shores, while the latter is still trying to catch up to it.

The free voice calling function appears to be available on invite-only basis at present. What this means is that you have to get a call through WhatsApp from someone who already has it. The release has been restricted to Android users for now and is reported to be accessible through the newest version 2.11.508 of the messenger app.
The software update is not available through Google Play Store, but can be downloaded as an APK file via the official WhatsApp website section for Android. The news and images were picked up by GSMArena through a Reddit member dubbed pradnesh07 who was able to use it on a Nexus 5 smartphone running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

According to the tipster on Reddit, some people started seeing the VoIP feature merely after picking up a voice call made through WhatsApp and then restarting. But some folks may have to reinstall the application before being able to enjoy free voice calling. The invite-based launch makes it clear that things are being taken slowly.

If you’ve miraculously or accidentally been treated to WhatsApp’s voice calling function, then you will notice an icon for it beside the Chats and Contacts tabs. But for some, trying to dial up a contact using the free VoIP calling option is said to only bring up a list of apps through which the call can be placed, including Google’s stock dial-pad.
Telecom companies across India are already acting like cry babies over the fact that customers are showing increasing preference for web-based applications like WhatsApp, Skype, Line and Viber to communicate with others. They’ve taken up the issue of regulating such Internet-based services with TRAI in order to staunch the loss of SMS and voice revenues.

It’s possible that this is one reason for WhatsApp having released the free voice calling feature in a limited way. It will also give the company time and feedback, both which will be needed to iron out any noisome bugs.

New Application Introduced : Microsoft Is Planing To Brings Outlook Application For Android And iOS Based Smartphones.

The Outlook app which is in preview mode for Android and iOS is quite different from the desktop versions of Outlook.com, the email service of Microsoft. The design is also different from the web app version of Outlook which is used mainly by Office 365 and Exchange users. Al Hilwa, IDC analyst stated that an increasing number of users are using the products across multiple devices and it will be valuable for them to move across platforms with the same tools.
However, the app does not support all the feature of Outlook on Windows. The service was acquired by Microsoft last December during the buyout of mobile developer Accompli. Th company admitted that the app did lack full support for Exchange ActiveSync administrative tools and the ability to wipe an entire phone in case its lost or stolen. However the app supports remote-wipe feature of email and attachments.

The Outlook app has received enough praise from users with and Joanna Stern from The Wall Street journal called the app’s mail integration and calender functions a freedom. The app does have minor bugs like connecting to hosted Exchange accounts though it performs smooth Calender sync from Gmail, iCloud and Yahoo.

Users are lauding the effoers put in by the company for the preview version and the Outlook app could definitely become a way for the company’s revenue generation. A Microsoft spokeswoman mentioned that the company’s aim was to make customers more productive, no matter their location or device. The latest move indicates Microsoft’s strategy to build more cross-platform mobile apps in the future.

Today, we announced the release of Outlook for iOS and a preview of Outlook for Android. If you have an iPhone, iPad, Android phone or Android tablet, chances are that you’re using the built-in email and calendaring capabilities of your device. Why use the new Outlook app instead? We’re glad you asked!

Despite the smartphone becoming a primary screen for reading email, most of us perform only basic email triage on the phone, delaying the rest to deal with on the computer. Activities like sorting through large amounts of email, managing your calendar, and sharing files require too many steps or multiple apps that don’t work together well on the phone.  The new Outlook app brings together the core tools you need to get things done—your email, calendar, contacts and files—helping you get more done even on the smallest screen.

Get back on top of your inbox:

Email overload is the new norm. That’s why Outlook helps you focus on what is most important and clear out the rest.

The new Outlook app separates your mail into two tabs—Focused and Other. Important emails appear in your Focused inbox, while the rest remain easily accessible—but out of the way. If you move email in or out of your Focused inbox, Outlook learns this about you and gets even more tailored to your priorities. Are you no longer reading that newsletter you signed up for? Outlook has a one-click unsubscribe to help you stop unwanted mail.
With Outlook’s customizable swipe gestures, rapid email triage is literally a one touch experience. You can swipe right or left to take actions like archive, delete, move, flag, mark as read/unread or schedule. Unlike other email apps, Outlook lets you personalize these swipe gestures to match your unique email habits. For email that you want to handle later, the ‘Schedule Email’ feature temporarily removes email from your inbox, to return at the time you choose.
Finding important emails is now lightning fast. Outlook’s predictive search quickly finds the right emails, people and files as you type just a few letters. Outlook also lets you pivot on People, so you can see the people you email with most often and easily find all the emails, meetings and files shared with those people.
Best of all, these features work across your favorite email accounts, including Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, iCloud, Gmail and Yahoo! Mail.

Need to schedule a meeting? No sweat!:

Most email apps completely ignore your calendar or have a minimal level of integration. In Outlook, your calendars are available right within the app, allowing direct interaction with your email, including features like viewing meeting details, invitees and their attendance status. The ‘Quick RSVP’ feature lets you respond to meetings (Accept / Tentative / Decline) right from your inbox, without even opening the mail.
What really sets Outlook apart is how it helps you manage your calendar on the go. The ‘Send Availability’ feature lets you find and share available meeting times in email with ease. Once you’ve settled on a time, you can even create a meeting invitation—all handled without leaving the app.

Attachments made easy :

People are catching on to the benefits of cloud storage, including the ability to work together on a single document. But when working in email on a mobile device, it can be difficult to add links to cloud documents and give recipients permission to view the files. As a result, people often wait to get back to their computers before sharing documents, or stay in the habit of sending traditional attachments.
Outlook makes it simple to share files stored in the cloud.  With just a few taps, you can insert a link to any file from OneDrive, Dropbox and other popular accounts in your email message. Recipients are automatically granted permission to view these files, with no extra steps.
Need to find a file quickly? No problem. Outlook provides a view of your recently received email attachments, so you don’t have to go searching through email to find that document you need. Outlook also lets you search across both your cloud storage and your email attachments at once, with Quick Filters to let you quickly sort by file type.

Designed for iOS and Android:

The Outlook app feels natural on both iOS and Android. For example, on iOS, you will notice familiar icons and actions for creating new messages, identifying new mail and taking actions like archive and delete. On Android, we use the Navigation Drawer to house the multiple tools offered in the app and have common actions like settings available in the App Overflow menu.
Across both iOS and Android, the Outlook app works great on phone or tablet. For both the iPad and larger Android devices, additional screen size is used to unlock additional views like a two paned email list, week view in calendar and the ability to see a preview of your files.
The future:

We’ve examined a few of the ways that Outlook helps you get more done on a phone or tablet. To try out these features and see even more of what the app can do, download it from the iOS App Store and Google Play.

We will be iterating quickly to bring new features to Outlook, shipping new versions of the app every few weeks. We’ll add user-focused features that help you get even more done while on the go, and we’ll also expand the capabilities that matter to IT, such as mobile device management.

A. The iOS version of Outlook is ahead of the Android version in terms of features and performance. Once we have completed sufficient work on Android to close the gap we will remove the Preview label.

Q. What happens to the current Outlook Web Access (OWA) for iPhone/iPad/Android apps?

A. The new Outlook app replaces OWA for iPhone/iPad/Android. We are leaving the OWA for iPhone/iPad/Android apps in market for the time being because there are some advanced Office 365 and Exchange Server features that are not yet available in Outlook. Customers who require these advanced features (e.g. viewing Information Rights Management protected mails, support for Apps for Outlook) can continue to use OWA for iPhone/iPad/Android until those features are available in Outlook.

Q. Does the new Outlook app work with Outlook.com?

A. Yes, we encourage Outlook.com users with iOS and Android devices to download and use the app.  Outlook replaces the previous Outlook.com Android app.
