Google Says No Map App For iPhone Yet

TOKYO (Reuters) - Google Inc has made no move to provide Google Maps for the iPhone 5 after Apple Inc dropped the application in favor of a home-grown but controversial alternative, Google's Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said.

The apple company released its own applying assistance recently when it began offering the long awaited upgrade to its cellular software foundation iOS 6 and began promoting the iPhone 5.

But customers have reported that Apple's new map assistance, based on Nederlander routing devices and electronic map manufacturer TomTom NV's information, contains obvious regional mistakes and does not have functions that created Look for Google Maps so popular.

"We think it would have been better if they had kept ours. But what do I know?" Schmidt informed a small number of of correspondents in Seattle. "What were we going to do, power them not to change their mind? It's their call."

Schmidt said Look for Google and The apple company were in continuous interaction "at all types of levels." But he said any decision on whether Look for Google Maps would be approved as an program in the The apple company App Shop would have to be created by The apple company.

"We have not done anything yet,"
he said.

Google and The apple company were close associates with the unique iPhone in 2007 and its addition of YouTube and Look for Google Maps. But the connections between the two have been damaged by the increase of Google Android os cellular os, now the top foundation for mobile phones.

Schmidt said he expected Look for Google would stay Apple's search associate on the iPhone but said that query was up to The apple company.

"I'm not doing any forecasts. We want them to be our associate. We welcome that. I'm not going to take a position at all what they're going to do. They can response that query as they see fit,"
he said.

Google provides Android os cost-free and allows designers to add programs on an start base, gambling that by growing a larger discuss of customers - now at over 500 thousand worldwide - it can earn more money by offering search functions and promoting promotion.

"Apple is the exemption, and the Android os program is the common design, which is why our business is so much higher," Schmidt said, including that success was often ignored by the press, which he said was "obsessed with Apple's marketing activities and Apple's marketing."

"That's great for The apple company but the figures are on our side," he said.

At one point, Schmidt, who was in Asia to declare the release of Google Nexus product here, used it to show off a new operate of Look for Google Maps.

The function allows customers to move their perspective of an area by going it in the air without in contact with the display, just like the impact of looking around.

"Take that The apple company," he said, including quickly, "That was a laugh by the way."
