Dutch-speaking TechTastic has spotted an HTC-made device with model number HTC 0PK71 pass through benchmark database site CompuBench. The unannounced device is believed to be the HTC One M9 Plus, which rumoured to be a version of the HTC One M9 with a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen. The HTC One M9 is said to sport a 1080p screen.
According to the listing, the HTC 0PK71 sports a 5.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, which works out to a pixel density of 576 ppi. This goes against what we’ve been coming across online, claiming the HTC One M9 Plus will sport a 5.2-inch 144p screen.
The listing also reveals that the HTC One M9 Plus will not sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor like previously reported, but a MediaTek MT6797 CPU. The MT6797 is a 64-bit processor with eight Cortex-A53 cores and a PowerVR G6200 Rogue GPU. The MT6797 is a weaker CPU that is no match for the Snapdragon 805.
The HTC One M9 Plus may lack processing power, but it makes up for this in the camera department. According to the listing, the smartphone sports a massive 20-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of recording 4K videos. It’s front-facing camera is massive as well at 13 megapixels. Not only is it optimised for snapping selfies, it can record 4K videos as well.
The rest of the specs include 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM. It runs Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box.
Disappointed the HTC One M9 Plus doesn’t sport the more powerful Snapdragon 810? There is a possibility that the HTC 0PK71 is meant to land in Asian markets to keep costs down. So there’s still a chance a version sporting Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date will be available in other markets such as the UK.
