Nokia To Unveil Windows Phone 8 Devices Today

September is the month when some of the major smartphone manufacturers will be showing off their flagship products. Starting off with the festivities is Nokia, all set to launch a range of handsets running on the Windows Phone 8 operating system.

Prior to the event, there have been a range of leaks surrounding the upcoming smartphones that will be released by Nokia. The brand is believed to be introducing two handsets running on this new operating system, which are the Lumia 820 and the brand’s flagship, the Lumia 920.
There have been a range of leaks surrounding these handsets as well, with these upcoming Lumia smartphones believed to feature wireless charging capabilities. The flagship handset, the Lumia 920, is believed to be packing some pretty impressive hardware specifications and along with the handset, the brand will be packaging a wireless charging pad. This wireless charger will work using an inductive method, wherein contacts are lined up on a charging pad on the device. Reports also suggest that the Lumia 920 will support the Qi wireless power standard, thereby making it compatible with other wireless charging products as well.

This is one feature that could potentially be highlighted as the handset’s standout feature. However, rumours indicate that the upcoming Windows Phone 8 flagship from Nokia will also have some other interesting specifications, which include 32GB internal storage, 1GB RAM and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. With large displays being the norm nowadays, it is believed that the screen featured here will be a 4.5-inch HD display.

Nokia recently released a short teaser video clip showcasing a girl on a bicycle. If we had to make a calculated guess, we would think it had something to do with Nokia’s PureView technology, which the company first introduced with the 808 PureView. Reports have indicated that this may indeed be the case, but as opposed to the 41 megapixel shooter found on the 808 PureView, it is believed that Nokia will focus on advancements in image stabilisation and camera software this time around. The brand may use an 8 megapixel camera at the back and a 1.3 megapixel shooter at the front for video calling.
The other handset that is expected to be announced is the Lumia 820. This handset will be slotted slightly below the Lumia 920 and will have most of the impressive features found on it. The display of the Lumia 820 is believed to measure 4.3 inches; this handset too will come with wireless charging abilities. The handset will come with 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot to further expand the available storage. The Nokia Lumia 820 is expected to be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and will feature 1GB RAM – attributes which are similar to the Lumia 920. As of now, there are no leaked rumours available on the camera specifications of this handset.

The Nokia World 2012 event is just a few short hours away, so stay tuned to this space to know more about the handsets. Nokia may pull off a surprise and launch something unseen, altogether.
