Grocery store massive Woolworths has combined out The apple company iPads to its 890 shop professionals across the country.
Woolworths ran an iPad head system with 90 area professionals 12 months ago to definite success, and the other day decided to go ahead with a broader execution system, as first revealed by The Modern australia.
One of the greatest time wasters for Woolworths shop professionals is control projects, such as back-end confirming and stock control. Previously, these were conducted through personal computers in returning workplaces.
The third-generation 3G-enabled 16GB iPads, implemented on 17 Aug, have been loaded with unique programs that allow shop professionals to do those boring control projects as they wander around their shop floor.
Woolworths reports that this will save 20 % of shop managers' time weekly, and will improve client fulfillment, because the professionals will have a longer period to help the customers, which will convert to "millions" in benefits.
"The whole reason for doing this, is a well run supermarket has a happy shop administrator. There was a lot of disappointment with how long shop professionals were having to spend at the back-office," Woolworths representative Kristen Young told ZDNet Modern australia. "We just want to create our shop professionals more happy."
While most of the programs were developed in-house through Google Apps, Woolworths did team up with Aware Technology to develop Tap for Support, an app that makes easier the process for contacting in servicing help at the supermarket's shop methodologies.
Hardware was provided straight by The apple company, while Optus is the mobile phone network provider for the 3G iPads.
Optus also worked with Woolworths to apply a mobile phone control (MDM) tool, to learn effectively for the supermarket to force app up-dates and slightly clean devices once they are lost.
