DBS, Microsoft Partner To Boost Customer Service

Summary: The Singapore bank is deploying five multitouch tabletops powered by Microsoft's Pixelsense technology to enhance customer interactivity and efficiency.

SINGAPORE--DBS Financial institution has implemented five Ms PixelSense table-top multi touch techniques in one of its divisions here, which it considers will carry better client connections and performance.

During the briefing organised here Thrusday, Koh Cheng Hwee, mature v. p. of head of series for DBS Lender's client financial team, said it wishes to carry more connections to its clients' financial experience with the entertaining area processing foundation.

So, instead of sales associates forcing various catalogues to potential buyers to market the bank's items, they can now take up and show the facts to several events on the 40-inch table-top program, Koh described.

DBS also select the program for its item identification abilities, he said. The PixelSense technological innovation allows the screen to identify up to 256 unique "symbols", which would then recover appropriate information associated with each icon. In a display during the briefing, a bank associate set different bank credit cards with signs connected to it on the touchscreen display screen, which led to pop-up microsoft windows showing explaining the various credit cards and the features and special offers they offer.

Bernard Tham, account administrator for financial services market at Windows business and associate team, who was also at the briefing Friday, said the PixelSense program has a main cms, which instantly up-dates the products' information. This removes the risk of associates discussing information which are out of date, he mentioned.

Jamieson Yu, home of components for Ms Asia-Pacific, outlined the Pixelsense product was renamed from its former name, Ms Surface 2.0. This is because the "Surface" product is now used to market the software giant's product gadgets, he described.

The change in marketing is also apt as it better records how the technological innovation is used. As opposed to capacitive touchscreens, Pixelsense is a vision-based program that uses light to identify and reply to touch and things, Yu said.

He mentioned the program DBS Financial institution had obtained is the New samsung SUR40 with Ms Pixelsense, and it sells for S$14,900 (US$12,112). But as clients usually need personalized applications for the program, the actual price will differ, he included.

The local bank has implemented five such techniques at its Remix bank division in the Nationwide School of Singapore. Remix divisions are targeted at the younger generation, and the NUS division was started out this Sept, Koh said.

Yu said the DBS implementation of PixelSense is one of the biggest deployments in Japan, and other sectors such as welcome and travel and leisure, automobile, and knowledge are in the process of applying the technological innovation too.
