"Oracle was thought by many, especially in the open-source application group, to be the antithesis of the type of company that should run Coffee. "The concerns were around whether Oracle would keep Coffee implementations in free, whether it would seek to monetise Coffee more strongly by improving its certification fees, or how Oracle would regulate Coffee and whether it would do so with sufficient group feedback," he included.
Contrary to some individuals objectives, Hilwa considers Coffee enthusiasts' toughest concerns have not been realized and that Oracle is looking after the venture.
"Two and a 50 percent decades after Oracle shut on the Sun purchase in Jan 2010, many of the concerns of the broader Coffee group have not materialised. Oracle has sailed most choices with a planned and major approach," Hilwa said in the review.
During that period, Hilwa included, Oracle has taken steps to decisively end a long-running argument about the acceptance of Apache Harmony's execution of Coffee and brought key companies such as Apple, IBM, and SAP to the OpenJDK open-source execution of Coffee.
Hilwa included that by breaking and delivery the planned upgrades to Coffee SE 7 in two produces, Oracle successfully "made more significant enhancements after the Sun purchase than in the two-and-a-half decades prior".
